Welcome to #fitfam!

Welcome to #fitfam!

January 18th is National Keep Your Resolutions Day and I'm partnering with Verizon to share how I'm keeping my 2018 fitness goals! In my recent post about my goals for 2018, I shared with you that I want to keep my fitness routine fresh by adding in new workout classes and continuing to take one class 5 or 6 times per week AND I want to add more cardio! I love my pilates, spin classes, HIIT training, and yoga, but then I go home or to a coffee shop and sit in front of the computer all day, and I know I need to move more, even though I work out consistently! I'm sharing my 3 top tips to help you keep those resolutions and fitness goals, because if you can make it past January, then you can make it all year!

1. Write your goals down and be SMART!
(Specific, Measurable, Actionable, Realistic, and Timely)

Have you written your fitness goals down? That is a HUGE first step in successfully achieving your goals- how can you achieve them if you don't know exactly what they are?! Write them down, put them somewhere you'll see them often, and read them every day (say them out loud every day for bonus points) Are your fitness goals clear enough? Instead of setting a goal to "be active," I'm going to set a goal to "Take a workout class 5x per week and take at least 10,000 steps everyday." Now I have clearly defined what success looks like for this goal. I'm an achiever, so I'll probably be walking laps around my house at night to make sure I hit all of my steps! Write your goal down!

2. Get the tools your need to succeed!

I am thrilled to partner with Verizon to create this post because they carry all of the wearable tech gear you need to make your fitness goals happen this year! I just got the FitBit Charge 2 from Verizon and am using it to track steps, activity, heart rate, and even my sleep schedule! I'm kind of a nerd, and love to see the "data" from my fitness journey. The FitBit syncs with a FitBit app on your phone to show you all of your activity metrics! I can't wait to start tracking progress with the FitBit and using some fun new tools to help me succeed! So get the tools you need - if one of your fitness goals is to drink 8 cups of water everyday, buy a water bottle that you love (or a disco ball tumbler!) to make drinking water more fun! If you want to motivate yourself to workout, maybe you need some new high waisted leggings that make you feel comfortable in yoga class. New running shoes if you're training for a marathon this year - you get the idea! Don't let any excuses stand in your way! I think my new FitBit is going to be a huge motivation in helping reach my steps goal each day, and give me a few added bonuses, like tracking my heart rate during my workouts.

3. Share!

In order to succeed, you have to share your goals! Tell them to your friends, family, followers...anyone who will support you in your fitness journey! Having support and accountability is a huge help on the road to success, so if there are people in your life who won't support your goals, don't share with them. Don't ever share big dreams with small minds! (that's a bonus tip for free!) Community is so important whether you're training for a marathon or trying to make it to yoga once a week, your community can make or break your fitness efforts. A group of my friends have FitBits and they always have competitions to see who can take the most steps in a day. (The kindergarten teacher with 4 recesses usually wins!) Now that I have a FitBit, I'm excited to get it on the action and see if I can beat them! If you need someone to share your goals with, shoot me a message- I would love to cheer you on this year!

I KNOW you can achieve all of the goals you set for yourself this year, especially your fitness goals- with success clearly defined, a little dedication, the right tools, and community cheering you on!

Thank you to Verizon for making this post possible!
