It's been so hard to keep this secret from you, but now I can share the details!

It's been so hard to keep this secret from you, but now I can share the details!

It's been a long journey but we were finally able to find a house in Dallas! We just closed on it today! (woo woo!!) We are so so thankful! I'm sure you have questions, and I have so much to share, but for now, I'll share how we found the house.

Some of you know that we have been looking for months and, of course, the marked in Dallas has been crazy! I am giving God 100% of the credit for this house because it seemed like everything we tried to do was being blocked and then we gave up (literally! and even went on vacation) and then found this house! Ha! I'll share the story :)

We had been hunting and hunting...aka I was spending hours every week on Zillow! We had one area of Dallas that we wanted to live in, but there wasn't much available. I kept looking at other areas and "getting distracted" by the lower price per square foot in the suburbs! (lol who has been there?!) I started to get desperate...which means that I was starting to try to convince Adam to consider houses in the M streets with only ONE bathroom! (at an outrageous price, too!). Adam is a pretty reasonable guy, but his only requirement was that the house have at least two bathrooms! He was not amused and would hit me with a "babe, chill." anytime I pulled up Zillow. Ha!

We *thought* we were onto something when we went to see a house in the area that we wanted to live in. We were going to put in an offer the next morning!! Spoiler alert: they didn't wait for us and accepted an offer that night. GOOD THING! I think the real reason that we went to see that house was to see the neighborhood (loved it!) and to see a cute little house with a for sale sign down the street! Sadly, it was already under contract. I was crushed...(foreshadowing!)

So after what seemed like one million failed attempts at offers, we gave up. We had been saving money in preparation for the home buying process, but we gave up on houses and went on vacation! Ha! That was our trip to Vail! Highly recommend a trip to the mountains to take your mind off of anything! Of course, check out my Vail Guide!

Well, on vacation, we decided that we should have a condo in Vail, so of course I pulled up Zillow to browse. ;) You know, we didn't find anything in our price range, but I told Adam we should do a quick Dallas browse while we were on the app "just in case." LO AND BEHOLD...THERE WAS THE HOUSE! The cute little house that was already under contract the week prior- yes, that one!

Immediately I texted our realtor and we put an offer in that day from Vail! We were trying to be chill and I had gotten a lot better about not getting emotionally attached to a house (aka planning my home renovations before our offer is accepted- oops!), so we moved right along and continued to enjoy our time in Vail.

We got a phone call the next day on our way to the airport back to Dallas, and THEY ACCEPTED OUR OFFER! I think that will go down as our best travel day ever. :)

As soon as we got back to Dallas, we started making preparations (and saving money again, lol!). BUT we had a little snafu. Our lender backed out halfway through our option period! LOL luckily he handed us off to someone else who was able to make it happen for us!

We weren't sure UNTIL CLOSING TODAY that it was going to happen. Honestly, people would ask for an update and I would say "well, we are supposed to close on 9/20, but I'm waiting until then to get excited." So now the day has come and I'm officially excited!

I'm sure I'll mention this many times, but our realtor, Melissa Garvey, with Compass, is the MVP who made it all happen! And, funny story: Melissa and I became friends years ago through the blogosphere, and kept in touch over the years! :)

We are so so excited and thankful! I'll be sharing more over the next few weeks, but just had to share this news asap!
