Is it big enough?

Is it big enough?

It's time for a SMEG review! After living with our new fridge for a couple months, I'm excited to share feedback with you. It took a few months to arrive, so order early if you're considering one!

I love the way our SMEG looks, but the most popular question I get when friends come over or see it online is "is it big enough?!" or "it looks so small!" so let's discuss!

My favorite thing about the SMEG is that I can see everything! I hated having to bend over and reach wayyy to the back of the fridge to find out what something was...hello moldy tupperware! With this fridge, I've been way more on top of eating leftovers and cleaning out old containers, if needed.

SPACE

Right now it's just my husband and me, but we do have a baby on the way. This is what the fridge looks like *fully stocked* for the week. I usually meal plan (very loosely in my phone reminders app) and make a grocery list to cover all of the meals. I took this photo after unloading groceries for the week and doing a little meal prep...aka chopping veggies (that's the extent of my prep!).

We keep our bevs on the top shelf, along with a lazy susan that holds a few basics. I like to keep healthy snacks front and center, so apples are at eye level on the top shelf and fresh blueberries are in the orange ceramic berry basket on the middle shelf. If I'm "browsing" for a snack, I'll eat a few blueberries which keeps me from reaching for an unhealthy option.

The door has one tall bottom shelf and two small shelves above that - perfect for additional beverages, coffee creamer, and condiments.

We even have an extra tub of spring mix right now because of a freebie at the grocery store, so we are extra stocked. I keep produce and any cheese/misc. in the top drawer, then meat and deli in the bottom drawer. This is how big the bottom drawer is - had to open it and show you. We are serious about our protein, but I have never had a problem fitting everything for the week inside!

You know I love to host parties and we actually had a watch party last night. I made a pitcher of lemonade and it could have fit on the top shelf, no problem, but I took the opportunity to use our "new" garage fridge to hold our party items until it was time for guests to arrive. Worked great! :)

FREEZER

We aren't big freezer or pantry people. Of course, we have some items, but for the most part we grocery shop weekly and only buy what we need for that week and don't keep a lot of excess food on-hand.

Our big freezer items are frozen fruit for smoothies and bread (we love Dave's Killer Bread for protein and fiber!). Occasionally, if our weekly meals change, we'll move a package of meat to the freezer to save for the next week.

I think the freezer setup is really interesting - 3 drawers! My favorite thing about the fridge (visibility) is my least favorite thing about the freezer (you can't see anything!) But again, I don't use the freezer too often, so not a deal breaker for me.

The one big drawback about the SMEG is that it doesn't have an ice maker. I don't use ice on a regular basis - really I only use it for parties, so not a big deal for me. We also have the garage fridge/freezer with our old ice maker, so that's fine. I think I'll eventually get a pebble ice maker built into our kitchen wall of storage (big renovation coming - hopefully! Ha!)

Overall, I love the SMEG and it makes me so happy! I think when your fridge is *this* cute, you have no choice but to keep the inside looking cute and organized, which is perfect for me!
