How to slow it down, regroup, and refresh!

How to slow it down, regroup, and refresh!

What a week! Some of you who follow me on Instagram might have noticed a serious lack of photos and stories over the past week. Well, that's because I was on my deathbed (dramatic, I know)! I'll spare you the details, but after playing sand volleyball in 50 degree weather last Monday, my body rebelled against me and MADE me slow down. I rested a bit, but didn't think it was too serious and still made plans to speak at a round table event on Thursday night. 3 hours (of nonstop talking) later, my voice was completely gone. As if that wasn't enough of a sign for me to stopppp, I still made plans to go to Friday night dinner with my girls and just told them that I couldn't speak, instead of staying home and resting like I should have! Then I hosted Dallas Blogger Brunch on Saturday morning and got a lot worse over the weekend before I finally started feeling better today (with the help of some serious medication). What is wrong with me?!?!? Anyone else guilty of this? So let's talk about a few physical and emotional signs that you need to CHILL and recharge!

MOOD

I wish I could post the "MOOD" Instagram story sticker right here. When your general mood or demeanor shifts from positive and upbeat to "everyone needs to get out of my way," it might be time to take a step back and rest! If I get snappy with people, I know I need to spend a little extra time by myself and regroup, whether that means cancelling plans or just making sure I'm having quiet time in the morning to start my day right! What sets your mood each day? Your feelings or your mindset?

FOOD

Maybe I'll make all of these things rhyme. Or maybe not. Do you ever have those days where all you want to eat is junk?! I know you do, because I definitely do. When my schedule is too jam-packed for me to cook at home at least once a week, I start to crave sugary snacks and meals that are way too high in fat! Do you have healthy go-to meals that you can grab on the go? My rotation includes: Chipotle, Zoe's Kitchen, and Snappy Salads, but I have to be very careful because Torchy's Tacos happens to be right across from Snappy. Dangerous! If you notice that your schedule isn't allowing you time for nutritious meals, take a step back and see what night you can stay home each week. Your food is your fuel and it's hard to function without the right fuel! Looking back, my eating wasn't quite on point 2 weeks ago, and I think it was a huge contributor in me getting sick! Eat those greens, people!

HEALTH

Duh. Do I really need to explain this? If you're getting sick, or have that sore throat, oh no what's this feeling....that's your signal to STOP. Cancel everything! I'm not a huge fan of going to the doctor because it's such a hassle, but over the weekend I had my first ever video doctor's appointment and it was a game changer. Didn't even have to leave my house- so nice! Consider this your reminder to take care of yourself and listen to your body.

Have to be honest and tell you guys that I'm literally looking at my calendar for this week right now and trying to figure out what events I can squeeze in without going overboard! I know, I know, I need to listen to my own advice! It's so tough when there are so many fun things going on- I would love to hear from you...how do you choose which events you give priority to?!
